Why This Work Matters to Me
I am a physician trained in Colombia and a bilingual healthcare professional.
Through my experience in surgical and oncology settings, I have learned that good healthcare begins with listening.
Working as a medical interpreter reinforced that belief.
I saw how much it matters for patients to feel comfortable asking questions and to receive information in words that truly make sense to them.
Language, culture, and personal experiences can shape how someone understands and approaches healthcare.
That is what draws me to clinical research. I am interested in learning what patients truly need and helping make complex medical information clearer, more useful, and more accessible—especially for Spanish-speaking and culturally diverse communities.
